CNA picturesClinton Technical School Health Occupations students were recently tested by an examiner trained by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Certified Nursing Assistant Unit.

Students first took part in a written critical thinking exam. Students who pass this portion of the exam, with a score of 80% or better, are able to continue with the Procedural Exam. The Procedural Exam consists of nine procedures, including: Handwashing, Gloving, Vital Signs using an Analog Sphygmomanometer and a Glass Thermometer, Transfer Techniques, Bathing Procedures, Feeding Techniques, Dressing and Grooming, Skin Care, and Range of Motion Exercises to the upper and lower extremities. These procedures are performed with a patient in a long-term care facility. The examiner is also monitoring safety procedures, infection control measures, as well as communication skills.

The Clinton Technical School is happy to report 26 students passed their exams and are now Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) ready to provide excellent care.

Students are taught by Health Occupations Instructor Barbara Houk, RN.
